Google will fix pink text on Pixel 8 Pro always-on display

Shortly after launch, it was revealed that the Pixel 8 Pro’s always-on display had an unfortunate quirk where text appeared discolored, often pink. Now, Google has confirmed that a fix is coming.

Several early Pixel 8 Pro buyers have noted that Google’s latest flagship has an ongoing display issue where text appears discolored. At the edges of the text, a pink or yellow tint may appear, which is obviously not normal. However, when the screen is turned on, no problems occurred.

Although the issue didn’t affect all users, it was fairly widespread within the first week. But luckily, Google is there.

In a comment on an Issue Tracker, Google directly confirmed that a fix is planned for this issue in a “future” Android update. This doesn’t tell us much about when the patch will arrive, as it could mean a monthly security patch or a larger update, like QPR1.

Marked as fixed. The issue has been fixed and will be available in a future Android release. Please keep an eye on the release notes

The first maintenance build of Android 14 is expected to be released in December, but theoretically we could see this patch rolled out with the November 2023 security patch which could will come next week, but Google is now playing with a loose schedule for these monthly updates.
