Japanese video game publisher Square Enix has announced that their Ethereum-based web3 game Symbiogenesis will be made available on web3 game launcher HyperPlay, following their investment into the platform.
Square Enix’s involvement in the blockchain space began with an investment in The Sandbox in 2020, followed by experiments with NFT stickers and the introduction of NFTs tied to premium Final Fantasy VII physical toys. These explorations led to the release of Symbiogenesis late last year.
Symbiogenesis is now the latest addition to HyperPlay’s lineup of 70+ blockchain games.
What is Square Enix’s Symbiogenesis?
Symbiogenesis marks Square Enix’s debut in web3 gaming, offering an immersive narrative experience set across floating continents. Players collaborate via Discord to tackle challenges and drive the storyline, culminating in a pivotal World Mission where three select players will decide the game’s future direction.
Utilizing Ethereum and Polygon networks for NFTs, the game empowers players to shape the narrative while offering opportunities for monetization through the purchase or minting of NFT characters.
To join Symbiogenesis, users need to connect their MetaMask wallet and Discord account to the official website.
What is HyperPlay?
HyperPlay is a web3-native game launcher created to create a fairer environment for gamers and developers alike to find, discover and play video games.
The platform also aggregates titles from various platforms, including the Epic Games Store and GOG.com, providing players with access to a diverse range of games. HyperPlay also operates on a 0% fee model, ensuring that developers receive all proceeds from game purchases.
HyperPlay offers features such as interoperable items and wallets, as well as cross-platform support for Windows, MacOS, SteamDeck, and Linux.
