Motorola 'Penang' leaked image hints on dual rear cameras, could feature 4GB RAM

Rumor has it that Motorola’s latest low-end smartphone, which may be called the Motorola Penang, has been knocked down by the latest leaked image by tipster Evan Blass. The image features the smartphone sporting a case with flat sides and rounded corners. The image also suggests that the Motorola Penang may feature a flat back with two cutouts in the top left to house a dual rear camera setup. Meanwhile, the front screen features a center-aligned perforated cutout, a particularly thick bezel and a chunky chin.

Images leaked by tipster Evan Blass in conjunction with GadgetGang also suggest that the smartphone has the same root codename as the Penang 4G and Penang Plus devices. However, Blass says that doesn’t necessarily mean the Motorola Penang smartphone will be in the same range.

The Motorola Penang smartphone is said to have 4GB of RAM while the handset could be launched by Motorola in 64GB and 128GB storage configurations.

The North American variant of the Motorola Penang 5G, which would carry the model number XT-2313, could be available on Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, as well as Cricket, Dish and Tracfone, according to the tipster.

Meanwhile, Motorola is expected to launch its next Moto X40 handset in China soon. The smartphone maker has already started teasing the arrival of the Moto X30 successor to the region. Its next flagship phone is confirmed to be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which was unveiled earlier this month. An exact launch date for the device has yet to be announced, but the Moto X40 will be among the first smartphones to feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which is said to deliver a 25% performance boost, and up to ‘at 45% better energy efficiency, according to Qualcomm.
