The rapidly growing Japanese blockchain gaming network Oasys recently announced its new partnership with Metaborathe Web3 gaming branch of the prominent South Korean video game firm Kakao.

Oasys will offer Metabora strategic guidance as part of the gaming studio’s mission to venture into Japanese territory. The nation is notably one of the largest gaming markets globally, boasting 42.5% of its population as active gamers, with anticipated revenue reaching $44.41 billion for the year.

The main objective of this collaboration is to develop and bring superior blockchain games to a broader audience, aligning with Oasys’ 2024 vision, known as ‘Dragon Update’, which emphasizes interoperability and ecosystem expansion.

Notably, Metabora has already made significant strides in the gaming industry by launching a variety of blockchain-based games, such as ‘Skill Blitz’, ‘Birdie Shot’, and ‘ArcheStar’, highlighting its diverse gaming contributions within the limitless Web3 landscape.

Oasys’ Role in Web3 Gaming’s Evolution

Forming a strategic alliance with Metabora represents a significant milestone for Oasys within the Kakao Games ecosystem, as it seeks to enhance Metabora’s visibility by leveraging its connections in Japan and beyond.

On top of supporting Web3 gaming companies, what also sets Oasys apart is being a preferred platform for traditional gaming giants transitioning into the blockchain realm. Ubisoft, for instance, chose Oasys as the foundation for its inaugural blockchain game, ‘Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles’, and even released a complimentary NFT collection tied to the game in December 2023.

Similarly, Sega has joined forces with the Japanese studio Double Jump.Tokyo to bring some of its iconic intellectual properties into Web3 gaming through Oasys, starting with a title based on the ‘Battle of the Three Kingdoms’.

In another comparable manner, gaming titan Bandai Namco — renowned for classics like Pac-Man and Tekken — ventured into the blockchain space by launching an innovative AI-powered game on Oasys last year.

Com2uS’s recent collaboration with Oasys — targeting Japan’s lucrative $55 million gamers — further underscores the growing interest in Oasys among traditional gaming companies. Following this partnership, Oasys’ native token, $OAS, impressively surged to over $0.14, as per CoinGecko. Though, it has since dropped.

Oasys is making notable strides in supporting both Web2 and Web3 gaming companies to expand. As key players continue to adopt the network’s infrastructure, the gaming blockchain is becoming a pivotal platform for innovative gaming projects wanting to branch out.
