Weekly poll results: Motorola's new mid-rangers divide opinion

The underdogs won – the Moto G73 left potential buyers hesitant while the G53, G13 and E13 received a warm welcome in last week’s poll. Are our eyes deceiving us, a phone with an HD+ screen won out over an FHD+?

He did indeed, although there is more to it. The Moto G53 is cheaper, which helps a lot – they are affordable phones, after all. For something more powerful, check out the Edge series.

Speaking of which, the Moto G73 now has 5G which is nice, but so does the G53 as well as Edge phones. Some of the older models cost about the same while offering more high-end hardware.

The balance between spec and price is tricky, as the Moto G23 discovered. It’s still cheaper than the G53 but it lacks 5G. LTE networks aren’t going away anytime soon, but getting a 4G-only phone in 2023 still wasn’t for many.

That said, if you drop the price even further, you get the Moto G13, a phone that received a positive rating from voters. The G13 loses the ultrawide camera, but the G23’s 5MP unit wasn’t impressive initially. The selfie camera has a lower resolution and slower charging, but saving $50 buys a lot of goodwill, in the end.

Finally, the Moto E13, the cheapest of the bunch, also received a boost – in fact, its report was the most positive of the five models. It doesn’t cost much, it’s half the price of a G23, and the Android Go Edition software is just what is needed to keep the cheap hardware running smoothly.
