More than 1 crore of mobile numbers were seeded in Aadhaar following requests from residents in the month of February, an official statement said on Friday.
Linkage of mobile numbers with Aadhaar jumped 93% in February from 56.7 lakh registration in January, according to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
“Over 10.97 million mobile numbers were created in Aadhaar as a result of resident requests in the month of February 2023, a jump of over 93% from the previous month,” the statement said.
The linking of Pan number with Aadhaar is considered as one of the key factors that pushed the growth of seeding of mobile numbers with Aadhaar.
Till date, an estimated 90 crore Aadhaar holders have linked their mobile numbers to their unique ID.
“UIDAI encourages residents to link their Aadhaar to a mobile phone number for better and efficient communication while enjoying social services and accessing a host of voluntary services,” the statement read.
Nearly 1,700 Direct Social Benefit Transfer (DBT) and State and State Good Governance schemes have been notified for the use of Aadhaar.
Aadhaar authentication transactions increased by 13% to 226.29 crore in February from 199.62 crore transactions executed in January.
UIDAI recorded 9,255.57 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions cumulatively till Feb 2023.
“While the majority of authentication transaction numbers were done by fingerprint, they are tracked by demographic and OTP data,” the statement said.
Over 26.79 crore e-KYC transactions were completed during the month of February, bringing the cumulative number to 1,439.04 crore, according to UIDAI.
