If your Spotify app is constantly crashing on Android lately, you’re not alone. Spotify’s latest beta update on Android causes the app to crash before it’s even fully opened.

Over the past few days, Spotify has released an update to its Android app, making the app completely unusable. The issue prevents the app from opening and crashes a second or two after trying to open it for the first time. Unlike last time when a crashing issue also hit the app, things don’t stay functional when connecting services like Android Auto. Spotify simply doesn’t work anymore, in any capacity.

The problem, however, seems to be limited to the latest Spotify beta update for Android, version 8.9.2.169.

We started seeing the issue on Saturday December 30th and it persists today with no sign of an update to fix it. Users on Twitter/X confirm the same and that troubleshooting steps like uninstalling and reinstalling are not working/

In theory, sideloading an older version of the Spotify app should work, but a safer path would be to leave Spotify’s beta program in the Play Store, uninstall the app, then reinstall it again. help of the stable version. However, any uninstallation will mean that any content downloaded for offline use will also be deleted.

Timing-wise, it’s definitely not ideal since New Year’s celebrations are underway.
