Samsung named ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for its continued environmental commitment – ​​Samsung Global Newsroom

Recognizing our commitment to sustainability, as reflected in our environmental strategy, Samsung Electronics America today received two ENERGY STAR 2023 certificates® Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Samsung’s accolades include our tenth Sustainable Excellence Award for Product Brand Owner for our outstanding contributions to environmental protection through the development of energy-efficient products and our first Sustainable Excellence Award for Management energy for our achievements in operational energy efficiency. Notably, Samsung is the only company to have received two 2023 Partner of the Year awards. These accolades demonstrate Samsung’s ongoing efforts to increase energy efficiency in our products and operations while having a significant impact on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

ENERGY STAR is the government-backed symbol for energy efficiency, providing simple, credible, and unbiased information that consumers and businesses rely on to make informed decisions in the United States.

Every year the ENERGY STAR program honors a select group of companies and organizations that have made an outstanding contribution to the transition to a clean energy economy. ENERGY STAR Award Winners lead their industries in the production, sale and adoption of energy efficient products, homes, buildings, services and strategies. These efforts are critical to tackling the climate crisis, protecting public health, and creating a clean energy future for all.

The Sustained Excellence Award is the highest honor among the ENERGY STAR Awards and EPA presents the award to partners who have won successive Partner of the Year awards and who demonstrate continued leadership by demonstrating long-term commitments to climate action through energy efficiency. This marks the tenth year that Samsung has been named an ENERGY STAR Sustainable Excellence Partner in the Product Brand Owner category.

Beyond our efforts to minimize our environmental footprint, Samsung empowers our consumers to make a a significant impact on the environment through daily changes with our eco-responsible products. In 2022, Samsung had 474 ENERGY STAR certified base models in the United States, which is an increase from 2021. In 2022, this includes 100% of dishwashers, laptops, air purifiers, washers front-loading and most of our Samsung refrigerators, as well as many of our top-loading washers and dryers. Samsung’s investment in America is also tied to ENERGY STAR: all of our front-loading and top-loading washers our South Carolina factory are ENERGY STAR certified. The Sustainable Excellence in Energy Management Award is presented to ENERGY STAR Partners who demonstrate excellence year after year in improving the energy performance of commercial buildings through a company-wide energy program. portfolio-based business. Samsung Electronics America has a diverse portfolio of 45 owned and leased buildings located across the United States. These continuous investments reduce the impact on the climate through the operation of our facilities and have resulted in an 8.6% reduction in energy consumption since 2019.

Another testament to our efforts was demonstrated by doubling the number of ENERGY STAR tenant space recognitions in 2022, from six to twelve. This number ranks second nationally for the most recognized Tenant Space properties, with Samsung accounting for 17.39% of the total nationally recognized properties.
