We are looking for a computational scientist with strong interest in medical research to conduct single cell multi-omics data analyses in a first-in-man clinical gene therapy trial.
The candidate will become an important part of a translational research program at Lund University and Skåne University hospital developing novel therapies for anemia. The postdoctoral training will entail developing and implementing a single-cell multi-omics based clinical monitoring protocol for a gene therapy drug entering clinical trials in 2023. The aim of this substudy is to describe the therapeutic mechanism of the gene therapy drug and establish a new standard for describing pharmacological properties of gene therapy drugs in general.
Qualifications required
- Applicants will have a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, systems biology, or a related subject (the PhD degree is obtained after 2019-08-15).
- Advanced knowledge of Python, R/Bioconductor, Linux/UNIX environment.
- Demonstrated experience in analysis of genome scale biological datasets, such as bulk RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&Tag, gene expression meta-analysis, and/or analysis of regulatory elements in the genome is required.
- Proficiency in analysis of single cell datasets: single cell RNA-seq, single cell ATAC-seq, and single cell multi-omics analysis of gene expression and chromatin accessibility is a strong merit.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals is important; the applicant will be expected to have an active role in study design and manuscript writing.
- Excellent personal initiative and communication skills; should be able to work and communicate with colleagues in the ‘wet lab’ and train group members as and when required.
The applicant should not have been employed by Lund University within the last two years in order to be able to receive a scholarship.

- The scholarship awarded is to be reviewed by the head of department every six months and the supervisor is to inform the head of department before each review of any significant circumstances.
- Scholarships set up by Lund University for any individual may not run for a period of more than 24 months.
- The scholarship follows the regulations established by the Vice-Chancellor of Lund University (June 27th 2013; Reg. No PE 2013/356).
