by Disney Pinocchio just got a new trailer, ahead of its September 8 premiere. Walt Disney Studios has released a final trailer for the Robert Zemeckis-directed live-action adaptation, which is releasing exclusively on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar. The film continues the studio’s new trend of turning 2D animated properties into realistic CGI, catering to a new generation of audiences. the original Pinocchio debuted in theaters in 1940 and won two Oscars. This new Pinocchio The trailer is the first time fans have seen the wooden puppet boy in action.
Disney’s first teaser for Pinocchio cut just before the long-nosed puppet comes to life and focuses on certain aspects of tone building. With this new Pinocchio trailer, we see our hero created and raised by his creator/father Gepetto (Tom Hanks). It looks like Disney will be recreating the story of the original 2D animated film, making the toymaker want Pinocchio to come to life. The wish is granted, as seen in the Pinocchio trailer when Cynthia Erivo’s Blue Fairy (Chaos Walking) arrives late at night and waves her wand.
“Hello, Dad!”, Pinocchio – voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth – shouts as he comes to life. The Disney movie will incorporate live and CGI actors on the same plane, similar to Jungle Book (2016). The living puppet then embarks on an adventure, encountering countless familiar characters such as Jiminy Cricket (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Sofia the Seagull (Lorraine Bracco) and the villainous Coachman (Luke Evans) – the latter intending to take Pinocchio to Pleasure Island.
The Pinocchio The trailer also offers some quick glimpses of trickster fox Honest John (Keegan-Michael Key) and Gideon the Cat, who convince Pinocchio to join Stromboli’s (Giuseppe Battiston) puppet show and become a star attraction. “Why the hell would you want to be real, when you can be famous!” he said in a knowing tone. As the story progresses, we see our hero locked in a cage, causing Geppetto to begin to worry about his fate. From the Pinocchio trailers for quick shots of the beautiful vistas and adventures Pinocchio embarks on. At the end, there’s a little tease of his growing nose, presumably after lying.
The collaborative partnership between Zemeckis and Hanks dates back to the Oscar-winning Forrest Gump. The pair then collaborated on Cast Away and the Christmas cult classic The Polar Express, which was filmed in motion capture. Zemeckis co-wrote the screenplay for Pinocchio with Chris Weitz (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).
Pinocchio will be available to stream on September 8, exclusively on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar.
