Copilot is Microsoft’s big answer to the current AI chatbot hype, and with its efforts more than a year behind, the widely available chatbot is set to receive some really exciting updates in the coming months. Here are some new Copilot features that I’m personally excited to try when they come to Copilot.
Multimodal search
It goes without saying that Bing, Microsoft’s online search tool, has only improved since its debut. It’s still nowhere near as good at Google, but Microsoft hasn’t given up on making it useful yet. One of the most exciting upcoming updates to Copilot will allow you to take advantage of multimodal search.
This essentially means that you will be able to use the AI chatbot to search online, and it will combine insight from Bing image search and data from web search to provide more accurate results.
GPT-4 Turbo
Another big new feature in Copilot will help improve the chatbot’s responses. Microsoft’s chatbot is built using GPT-4, the same large language model (LLM) that powers OpenAI’s premium version of ChatGPT. In fact, Copilot is one of the only ways to access GPT-4 for free, and it will soon receive an update to GPT-4 Turbo, which is the latest model developed by OpenAI.
Once the GPT-4 Turbo update arrives, Copilot users will be able to tackle even more complex and time-consuming tasks. This will put the Microsoft-built chatbot on par with ChatGPT, which will be especially useful if you weren’t able to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus before OpenAI suspended new subscriptions earlier this year.
DALL-E 3
You can already try DALL-E 3 using Bing’s image creator, but Microsoft will soon bring all of DALL-E 3’s capabilities to Copilot as part of one of the upcoming updates. This will allow you to generate high-quality images directly without the chatbot, allowing you to create more in-depth queries. This new feature has been making headway lately thanks to a social media trend, and it will be even more widely used once it becomes available on Copilot.
DALL-E 3 introduces a host of additional options for image generation, and it will be nice to be able to take full advantage of them in Copilot as well. This is another GPT feature that is usually only available to ChatGPT Plus users, so this will be a great way to test it out for free.
