Mattel Accelerates Web3 Universe with Fast & Furious NFTs

Fast & Furious fans are in for a ride this month with the unique opportunity to enter the digital world of the all-time favorite energetic blockbuster series. Timing perfectly with the upcoming release of ‘Fast X: Fast & Furious 10’, Mattel is set to propel Fast & Furious NFTs on May 22 – 29.

The Hot Wheels NFT Garage x Fast & Furious NFTs — held on the Flow blockchain and created in collaboration with Cryptoys — are set to showcase renowned cars from the legendary movie: Brian O’Conner’s 1969 Camaro, Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger, and Suki’s Honda S2000, for just $20 apiece. Acting as digital certification, these digital assets verify authenticity and ownership — all distinctive to one another, ensuring exclusivity, originality, and, therefore, desirability.

Like Mattel’s most recent digital collectibles, ‘Boss Beauties x Barbie‘, the Fast & Furious project enables holders to own a physical object. However, rather than shipping an iconic famous fashion doll, the redeemable prizes include a tangible metal replica of a Suki car for those who acquire the entire set of digital assets.

Mattel’s Web3 Pit Stop

Mattel expanded its digital realm earlier this month, joining forces with OnChain Studios to further venture into the burgeoning digital art and cryptocurrency market. This partnership kick-started with the launch of Star Wars-themed NFTs launching coincide with ‘Star Wars Day’ on May 4 (be with you).

However, this wasn’t the first time Mattel touched base in Web3. The famous toy manufacturer first represented its love for fast cars on-chain in 2021, auctioning its first digital art pieces featuring Hot Wheels and creating an extra four series (including this one) following success. Further riding the wave of victory and capitalizing off Cryptoys, Mattel has released other collectibles since, including Masters of the Universe, and kick-started its own virtual store, ‘Mattel Creations‘.

Mattel’s ongoing involvement in the Web3 world proves the toy manufacturer’s desire to stake a claim in this digital race. Blending redeemable physical toys with digital collectibles demonstrates the limitless potential of NFTs and the fast pace of technological advancements.
