Google’s Danny Sullivan responds to our article on the culture of SEO scammers.
It’s fair to say that Danny doesn’t like Amanda Chicago Lewis’ excellent article on built web SEO – and the people who have made millions running SEO programs. (It’s also important to note that Danny says he’s not responding here in his professional capacity as a Google employee!)
Danny brings up an email conversation we had a while ago about indexing quick posts in search during the site redesign; the only thing I will say is that I found it very enlightening that our ideas about how to make our site more useful came head-first into a discussion about what Google I would like instead of what our audience would like. And ultimately, Google’s advice was so opaque that we excluded Quick Posts from the search index rather than accept the traffic risk. (But we’ll let them index soon. Yolo.)
