Google starts rolling out Android app switching support for phones running Android 12

Google has announced the rollout of Switch to Android apps for all Android 12 smartphones. The app was previously only available for Google Pixel smartphones. Google previously rolled out the app for iOS smartphones through Apple’s App Store. The app will help Apple iPhone users seamlessly switch to Android smartphones running Android 12. This will facilitate the wireless transfer of videos, pictures and contacts from iPhones to Android smartphones. The Google Switch to Android app also allows users to turn off iMessage to receive text messages on Android.

In a blog post, internet giant, Google, announced that from Wednesday it has started rolling out the Switch to Android app for all smartphones running Android 12. The app was previously limited to Google Pixel smartphones. The app will allow iPhone users to easily upgrade to any smartphone with Android 12. It will allow users to wirelessly transfer data such as videos, pictures, documents, contacts and others from their iPhone to their new Android smartphones.

The new Switch to Android app update will allow users to also connect a cable to transfer videos and images stored in iCloud from iPhones to Android smartphones. Users will now be able to transfer DRM-free music, non-iTunes music, call logs, alarms, phone settings, audio, wallpapers and free apps from iOS to Android using the app.

Google also highlighted 10 reasons users are switching from iOS to Android. Some of the reasons mentioned by the internet giant include the ease of video calling if a user’s family and friends are on Google, the direct transfer of the user’s previous music purchases from iOS to Android and proactive data protection on Google.

Alphabet-owned company Google announced in April that it had started rolling out the app for iOS users through Apple’s App Store. It is available on App Store in multiple languages including English, Arabic, Dutch, German, Hindi, Spanish, etc. It also allows users to disable iMessage to receive text messages on their Android smartphones.

Apple also offers a similar app called Move to iOS which helps Android smartphone users easily migrate to Apple iPhones. The app allows users to transfer contacts, message history, camera images and videos, web bookmarks, email accounts, and calendars.
