Despite box office success, Elon Musk criticizes the Barbie film for its feminist connotations

Even though Greta Gerwig’s film “Barbie” set several box office records, it faced scrutiny from some who believed it depicted anti-male feminism. It seems Tesla CEO Elon Musk didn’t like the movie either. He recently took to Twitter and criticized the movie: “If you take a shot every time Barbie says the word ‘patriarchy,’ you’ll pass out before the movie ends.” Musk was responding to a Barbenheimer meme that compared Twitter to Barbie and his new name X for his social network to Oppenheimer.

Indian TV actor Juhi Parmar also recently weighed in on the movie Barbie. In an Instagram post, the ‘Kumkum’ star explained how she was shocked by the film’s “inappropriate language and sexual overtones” and had to leave the film after 10-15 minutes. According to Juhi, many parents followed suit by accusing the makers of misleading the audience.

“Ten minutes into the film, inappropriate language, sexual overtones, and I was anxiously walking out of the theater wondering what I had just exposed my child to… The language and content of your Barbie movie is inappropriate, even for children aged 13 and above. I would like to ask, why make a film that is such an essential part of a child’s life and then have content that is so inappropriate for them? Why did you shatter Barbie’s perfect illusions ?I wish I could erase the memory of this movie and continue to believe in a perfect Barbie for my child, who owns one of your collections and who loves you so much. I wish so much – A worried and disappointed parent”, a- she wrote in her message.

The film directed by Greta Gerwig stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead roles, Barbie and Ken respectively. It was released in theaters on July 21, alongside Oppenheimer directed by Christopher Nolan.
