Ubisoft has confirmed that its next Assassin’s Creed title will be called Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
If you think the timing (and tone) of the announcement was strange, well, you’re sort of right.
The confirmation comes just days before Ubisoft’s set to host its Forward event – no doubt the company would have preferred to announce it then – and a pretty big leak about the game.
According to YouTuber j0nathan, the game – Assassin’s Creed Mirage – will take place in 9th century Baghdad and will focus on Basim ibn Ishaq, a character introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
The game will feature a return to the AC basics, with the levelling system removed and with a focus on stealth (thank the lords).
Unlike the previous games (Valhalla, Odyssey), there will be less RPG elements like gender and dialogue choices.
Supposedly, Ubisoft is also working on a reboot of the first Assassin’s Creed game.
Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has confirmed some of the reports – it’s worth noting his confirmation; Schreier had said back in July that the next game was to be set in Baghdad.
The game title floating around then was called Assassin’s Creed Rift.
So what do we know officially?
Well, nothing yet but Ubisoft will definitely reference it in the upcoming Forward event, taking place this week on 10 September.
