Apple iPhone 14 price tipped ahead of debut, could be same as iPhone 13 launch price: report

The iPhone 14 could launch for the same price as the iPhone 13 when it debuted last year, according to a user blog post on Naver. The decision was reportedly made by “Apple’s top executives” despite inflation and supply chain constraints. According to a recent report, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max – which would be powered by last year’s A15 Bionic SoC instead of the A16 Bionic SoC – could benefit from a performance improvement over the previous generation due to new cellular modem and new internal design.

Apple iPhone 14 price (rumored)

Pricing for the iPhone 14 is expected to start at $799 (about Rs.63,200), according to a blog post by user “yeux1122” on Naver (in Korean), first spotted by MacRumors. It should be noted that the iPhone 13 was launched at the same price in September last year.

According to the blog post, which cites an unspecified major US financial institution, the decision was made by Apple’s “senior executives” despite ongoing inflation and supply chain issues. The justification for this decision would be the stagnation of the global smartphone market and a drop in demand. The price of the base model is said to be fixed despite the factors that could potentially drive them up. Apple has yet to officially announce details of the alleged iPhone 14 series, including pricing.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max are expected to offer overall performance improvements as the smartphones feature a new cellular modem and a new internal design, according to a recent report.

The two non-Pro models are said to be powered by last year’s A15 Bionic SoC, although the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Max Pro are powered by the A16 Bionic SoC.

Apple may also be dealing with quality issues with the iPhone 14’s rear camera lenses, according to a report. The tech giant reportedly sourced the camera lenses from a supplier called Genius. The report added that these lenses suffered from “coating quality issues and cracking”. The company would have already transferred the order to another company, while the supplier tries to solve the problems.
