Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.
The Research Technician II processes patient samples for clinical trials, maintains inventories, and performs single-cell RNA sequencing.
Responsibilities
- Process clinical trial patient samples for immediate use and long-term storage
- Communicate with patient provider teams to coordinate sample acquisition at FHCC/UW medicine
- Pick up samples at FHCC and UW hospital (Montlake)
- Present updates in meetings
- Keep detailed logs of patient samples and protocol notes
- Single cell RNA sequencing
- Execute 10X Genomics protocols
- Understand Illumina sequencing
- Tumor bank:
- Coordinate with NWBiospecimen, surgeons, and affiliated labs to obtain tumor samples
- Maintain detailed inventory
- Process samples for long term storage
- Consent patients for tissue donation
- Isolate PBMCs from whole blood
This position will require schedule flexibility to work occasional weekends and early/late days
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biological disclipline or related field
- Two years’ full-time relevant experience in a laboratory environment
- Interest or background in immunology
- Experience with some or all of the following:
- Primary human tissue handling
- Mammalian cell culture
- Sterile/aseptic technique
- Molecular biology
- NGS and Sanger sequencing
