Ben Affleck's Batman Will Return In Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom, Jason Momoa Reveals

Ben Affleck returns as Batman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Lead actor Jason Momoa has confirmed via Instagram that the ex-Batman will be making an appearance in the Aquaman sequel that is part of the DC Extended Universe. Momoa posted a photo of himself and Affleck on the set of Aquaman 2, with the caption: “REUNITE bruce and arthur. I love you and I miss you Ben WB studio tours just explored the backlot well.” Directed by James Wan, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters in March 2023.

By 2019, Affleck would have been done with Batman — officially hanging up the cape and cowl and even stepping away from directing his own standalone movie, built on Zack Snyder’s universe. He was later confirmed to be part of Andy Muschietti’s squad. the flash film with Ezra Miller in the lead, which would feature a multiverse concept with the Dark Knight playing a “substantial” role in the DC film. the flash is due out in June 2023.

It’s unclear how big Affleck’s role will be in Aquaman and the Lost Realm, though footage shows him wearing a suit and a clean-shaven face – hinting at his appearance as billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne. Production on the film officially wrapped in January. The photos are therefore from a recent recovery session at Warner Bros. studios.

Aquaman filmmaker Wan is directing the sequel to a screenplay co-written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Momoa. Details are overwhelmed, but fans can expect to see more world-building in the realm of Atlantis. Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman will star alongside Amber Heard, who plays Mera, the princess of Xebel and daughter of King Nereus. Other members include Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Nicole Kidman as Atlanna and Patrick Wilson as Orm Marius – who was the subject of an internet death hoax earlier this year.

The ending of Aquaman (2018) saw Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s David Kane being rescued by Dr. Stephen Shin, a marine scientist obsessed with Atlantis. We might see Black Manta return as a villain in the Aquaman following. And who knows, it might be incorporated into James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad storylines later on.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters worldwide on March 17, 2023.
