Avatar: Waterway Leaked on Torrent Sites and Hacking Networks Ahead of India Release

Avatar: The Way of Water – James Cameron’s new movie released in India on Friday – has leaked to torrent sites and other networks that allow piracy, in varying quality versions and file sizes (from 600MB to 4 GB). Although most of the copies are undoubtedly genuine, given the attached screenshots and user comments attesting to their legitimacy, some are fraudulent and only exist as a trap to load viruses, malware and the like. on the computers of unsuspecting individuals. But even with these genuine cases, the illegal copies of the second Avatar Movies are of incredibly low quality and are likely to be filled with ads. Gadgets 360 does not tolerate illegal file sharing. It’s against the law and filmmakers deserve to be paid for the content they create.

The first legitimate leaked version of Avatar: The Way of Water appeared on torrent sites around 11am IST on Thursday, December 15, with the tag “CAM” suggesting that it was filmed with a video camera in cinemas. The second Avatar film released Wednesday in Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea and Sweden; Thursday in Australia, Brazil, Israel, Mexico, Portugal, Singapore and Thailand; and releases Friday in India, US, UK, China, Japan and worldwide. According to comments and screenshots, the illegal rips of the second Avatar movie rips feature a permanent watermark for an online gambling and betting website. These were digitally inserted onto the leaked recording.

Luckily for Disney, 20th Century Studios, and the cast and crew of Avatar: The Way of Water, the quality of the camera-recorded illegal rips of Avatar 2 is downright terrible. Based on publicly available screenshots, Gadgets 360 can tell they have serious issues with sharpness, detail, contrast, cropping, and/or color. We won’t post any screenshots to avoid spoiling any part of the movie. Gadgets 360 was unable to verify audio quality, although user feedback suggests it is echoing, muffled and hard to hear. The full Avatar 2 movie leaks only reinforce the point that you should watch the movie when it’s officially available in theaters where you live.
