Confiction Labs Combats Web3 Gaming Bots with ‘Proof of Exposure’

Riftstorm developer Confiction Labs has introduced a new verification system called “Proof of Exposure” to counter the increasing presence of bot accounts in web3 gaming.

Research indicates that a significant percentage of airdrops and other rewards are frequently captured by bots, which undermines the intended distribution to active community members.

To address this issue, Proof of Exposure requires players to undergo a verification process that involves providing evidence of their past achievements and contributions within the game. This process is embedded within the game’s narrative and is intended to ensure that only verified users can access exclusive features.

What is Proof of Exposure?

Proof of Exposure integrates verification into the game’s storyline through the use of NFTs.

The verification process involves a “deep profiling” system that evaluates players, allowing those who pass to access exclusive in-game content, such as the upcoming XPSR-24 NFT collection.

Successful applicants are then granted access to the mint of XPSR-24, an NFT collection integrated into Confiction Labs’ FICT ONE: Occultical universe.

The verification process employs a range of tools, including third-party APIs and data analysis, to ensure that the participants are human and meet the necessary criteria. It places a premium on influence, vocation, gaming achievements, on-chain value, and creativity to increase a user’s clearance level and reduce the impact of bot accounts.

Proof of Exposure is currently in its third week of implementation, with applications for the XPSR-24 collection ongoing.
